Problem solving - The Creative Thinking
When we have a problem to solve, we may tend to get stuck to that problem without being able to look at things from different perspectives. Sometimes, we don't even listen to any colleagues of ours, as we assume what they say is wrong. In these situations we are not likely to come up with the best solution.
Instead, some authors recommend to adopt a creative approach when solving problems. They say we should let our thoughts flow with no limitations given by logic so as to facilitate the so-called divergent thinking. Once we have come up with all possible ideas about how to handle the problem, that is the moment when we may select the best ideas using the convergent thinking, and the best ideas may not be even ours! That is the reason why, the convergent thinking should follow the divergent thinking and not vice-versa, otherwise our judgement might be seriously compromised.
